Preston’s passion dates back to an experience he has often described, the afternoon spent at the Capital Theatre in Dunkirk with a shoe box of popcorn. His friend’s father was a manager there and he would often spend the day watching double features. On one afternoon, Preston walked onto the stage to examine the screen. He turns to stare at the light coming from the projectionist’s booth, the faces of the audience, all tilted at the same angle and gasps “It’s all about the light!” and that has remained true to this day. For more than 60 years, for Preston, it has been all about the light.
