—chipAway Productions offers full-service production and consulting, with an educational component that brings the art of filmmaking to your set, boardroom, or classroom. Founded 13 years ago, the company has produced numerous award winning feature and short films that have enjoyed success on the festival circuit around the world.

Donald Preston Cato and Katha Cato, partners in both filmmaking and life, are the driving forces behind chipAway Productions and the Queens World Film Festival. Together, they produce industry events, interactive live performances, public art exhibitions, and education programs—both in classrooms and online. Over the course of their long careers in after-school education, they have produced 96 short films with students in grades K-12.

As educators, Preston focuses on film production while Katha specializes in Youth Development. They set high, clear expectations and work tirelessly to motivate students to exceed them. Despite their busy schedule, they maintain a deep commitment to community involvement, contributing to projects like graffiti removal, community gardening, and free outdoor screenings.
